My law enforcement career began in 1972 in the Vermillion, South Dakota Police Department.  I was a sergeant when I left there to move to Alaska in 1981.  For over twenty years I was a member of the Anchorage Police Department, retiring in September of 2002.  Thirteen of those twenty years were spent in investigations, which culminated in the position of sergeant in charge of the sexual assault unit.

From 1991 to 2002 I was a polygraph examiner with APD administering criminal investigation polygraphs, internal investigation polygraphs, pre-employment polygraphs, and criminal polygraphs for not only APD but for other Federal and State agencies as well.
